This wired gaming headset is great if you’re on a budget. Made by EKSA, a little-known company that specialises in headsets for all gaming platforms, this headset produces excellent stereo sound with fairly decent bass. The microphone is fairly decent too, boasting noise-canceling capabilities and the ability to be removed if you ever feel like it’s getting in the way.
It’s compatible with most platforms, such as Xbox, PlayStation, etc. It requires no software when used with a PC. Making it easy to get started and one of the best multi purpose gaming headset.
It also comes with a nifty carry case, an audio Y splitter cable and a generous 24-month warranty. Overall, it’s a quality budget gaming headset PC or console – for both the casual gamer or even the seasoned veteran. That’s why we feel this wired gaming headset deserves to be ranked 10 on the list.
9. Razer Kraken X – Gaming Headset
Razer has been a powerhouse in the gaming industry. Providing gear such as video game headphones for all types of gamers, casual or not. This is a great option if you’re looking for a gaming headphones PC!
The Razer Kraken X is actually one of the lightest wired gaming headsets, weighing only 250g. This really adds to the comfortability factor. With a padded flexible headband and plush memory foam earphones.
However, even though it may look sleek with it’s all black design that you see a lot in Razer products, it is let down slightly by the materials used; sporting plastic casing that feels like it could break easily if you’re a tad too rough after one or two intense rage-quits whilst gaming.
The Razer Kraken X has a cardioid mic, meaning it avoids picking up sound from the rear of the mic to limit background noise. It’s decent for the price, but the sound quality is only stereo. This is opposed to other surround sound options which leaves us with slightly poorer spatial sounding.
On the other hand, it does come with free hardware for the PC, used to emulate surround sound which does make it noticeably better. The headset isn’t purely for PC though and can be used with most platforms. The mids and highs are fairly exaggerated and tend to drown out the bass.
The overall quality is still extremely decent for the lower price tag offered. Overall, this is another great budget computer gaming headset from a specialist creator, so we’re ranking it 9 on the list.
8. HyperX Cloud Alpha
This next entry on the list isn’t the prettiest, but with the signature award winning HyperX Comfort, it’s definitely worthwhile. Like the EKSA E900, this wired gaming headset is still good on a budget, offering a high-end sound quality at little cost to the other features.
It uses HyperX dual chamber drivers for more distinction and less distortion. One chamber works on Bass, while the other deals with mids and highs, giving us more distinction between sounds.
This pair of gaming headphones also sport a detachable noise-cancelling microphone and a braided detachable headset cable. The last great feature of this gaming headset is that it will work with almost any platform utilising a 3.5mm port, leaving it at a solid 8 on this list.
7. Steelseries Arctis 5
A good top 10 countdown for gaming headsets wouldn’t be complete without a mention to Steelseries. Their Arctis 5 model is sleek, stylish and super comfy.
In comparison to most other headsets, this one utilises an adjustable and interchangeable headband that sits just below the top plastic headband. This is brilliant for those gamers out there that get a bit sweaty during those tense gaming moments, as it’s easily washable.
Once again though, the quality of the casing and hinges is let down, being plastic. The Arctis 5 shows itself off with eye-catching RGB lights in the earpads. However, the downside is that these will only work if paired with a PC.
Once again, this comes with a 3.5mm jack adapter so it will work with most consoles and other devices. However, there is a noticeable drop in sound quality when paired with a device that isn’t a PC. Speaking of which, these have a decent sound signature, without much treble. The bass is high, allowing deep hits of sound, with an overall good mixing.
The mic is retractable, and sits inside the housing of the left ear pad, working even when fully inserted. However, this will muffle the quality. The sound on the mic is quite average and rather sensitive. It does come with a nifty red light to let you know when you’re muted. This helps avoid those awkward moments when you forget to mute in an online lobby.
All in all, a solid pair of wired gaming headphones for the price, leaving its mark on spot 7 in the list.
6. Logitech G Pro X
Logitech isn’t something you’d normally think of when it comes to gaming headphones. However, the G Pro X is an amazing option with a slick retro design that looks clean. With its removable mic, you could easily use this gaming head set as your day-to-day music/sports headset. The frame is solid, but it does seem like you’d have a problem with it being too tight if you had a larger head.
The G Pro X’s microphone is the selling point, with inbuilt “Blue – Vo!ce” technology that offers an incredibly crisp sound quality. Paired with the G Pro drivers inbuilt, which boast almost no distortion and surround sound.
They are wireless, but you have the option with the adapter that comes in the box to turn them into a wired gaming headset. This wireless gaming headset is most likely the best you can get for your money at the moment, being compatible with almost all devices, this one’s a no brainer for spot 6.
5. Corsair HS70 Bluetooth
Corsair is another company that specialises in gaming gear. Their HS70 bluetooth is possibly the best budget wireless gaming headset you’ll find. It may not be a looker, it may also be a little on the heavier side, but once it’s on it’s a snug fit.
Fully padded with plush memory foam, it feels like it’s floating on your head, while still feeling solid and strong on the outside. There is an issue with some games, having the volume up max can sometimes cause slight hissing, but no distortion.
However, the spatial sound is on point, and clean otherwise. The mic on this gaming headset does let it down slightly, coming across as slightly ‘tinny’.
What’s great about this headset is the battery can last up to 30 hours, and you’ve also got the option to plug in a 3.5mm headphone adapter, making this work universally on most platforms. A great budget wireless gaming headset, the HS70 Bluetooth stands out at number 5.
4. Turtle Beach Elite Atlas Aero
Turtle Beach is a company, like EKSA, that specialise in gaming headphones and only headsets. They dominate the market and they don’t fall short with the Elite Atlas Aero. This wireless PC gaming headset is predominantly for PC, but you will be able to wire it up with a 3.5mm jack cable that comes with the headset. This makes it usable with most devices and consoles.
The general aesthetic looks futuristic and there’s a decent amount of padding but it is slightly tighter than others, however still very comfy. The sound quality on this gaming headset is awesome, picking up every little detail and texture you might normally miss in music and games.
Despite this, once again, with the bluetooth enabled there is a slight hissing on max volume, but it doesn’t seem to distort at all which is still great.
The mic is what you’d expect for the price, although it does sound a little like you’re talking into a pillow. A full charge nets you around 30 hours of use, but once again there’s the 3.5mm adapter if you need to plug in.
A great attempt by an even greater company, this gaming headset comes in 4th place.
3. Razer Blackshark V2 Pro
Here we are with another model from Razer, the Blackshark V2 Pro. This has long been considered one of the best priced PC gaming headsets, and unlike the others it can also be connected via bluetooth to consoles. The console support isn’t the best unfortunately as you’d be missing out on the drivers made for PC.
Of course, there is always the wired option still. Its 2.4Ghz wireless connection ensures lossless audio, which helps make sure you don’t miss a beat. On a full charge, you’d be looking at 24 hours of battery life, a bit less than others. However, it only takes 3 hours for a full charge, so you can keep on gaming non-stop.
The overall design is rather plain but effective and the materials used are quality. For instance, the passive noise-cancelling memory foam ear cushions by “Flowknit”, which really help cut out those pesky outside noises.
Having a detachable mic makes it easier to use. These are your go to everyday headset. They’re pretty cosy, using the same material on the headband. The sound is phenomenal, picking up sounds you’d never known existed. Even using the 3.5mm jack, you risk no quality loss to the sound.
The “Razer HyperClear” super cardioid mic blocks out ambient sound coming from the sides and the back of the mic, so you only hear what is intended to be heard. Everything about this gaming headset is bang for your buck, and a worthy entry for spot 3 on the list.
2. Audeze Mobius
Audeze is another giant from the headset industry, and the Mobius is one of the best.
This headset looks pretty casual, but the quality and work that goes into it is truly astounding. Everything about this headset says premium, and so it should.
Audeze award-winning technology goes into making the peerless sound with its planar magnetic drivers, bringing us cinematic sound. Top that off with a high-quality, crystal clear, detachable boom mic, and you’ve got an experience like no other.
One downside is the gaming headset itself is rather large, and a tad bulky, making it not so ideal a choice for travel. The main selling point of the Audeze Mobius headset is the “Waves NX™” Head-tracking and 3D audio technology, which tracks even the tiniest movements and relays the sound accordingly. This brings some awesome immersion into the fray, helping you emulate a real-world experience.
It’s completely compatible with most devices, and comes with adapters for USB and aux connections. Overall, this gaming headset is an absolute must, if you’re willing to burn a hole in your pocket for such a premium experience that is. This leaves it at a tough but fair second place on the list.
1. Steelseries Arctis 7X/7P
Finally, we’ve made it to the top spot! Focusing on Steelseries again, but this time the Arctis 7X/7P models.
The 7X is specifically designed for Xbox, but will still work with other platforms such as the Nintendo Switch, PC, mobile, etc. whereas the 7P is the PlayStation equivalent.
The Arctis 7X/P is very similar in design to the Arctis 5, par the new headband design, but boasts a softer, comfier experience. This is great if you’re planning on a long gaming session. They’ve improved the cable with a tangle-free version, but that only matters if you plan on using it.
The Arctis 7X/7P gaming headset uses lossless 2.4GHz wireless connections so you can pair it with bluetooth to most devices with no problem, unlike the older model. Of course, there’s still the cable if needed. The mic has been re-worked too, being less sensitive but still able to pick up a wider frequency of sounds.
With the same high-end audio drivers from the Arctis 7, you’ll have a stunning sound experience that will give you the edge you need to win any game that comes your way. You’ll get around 24 hours of gameplay on a full charge, so you’ll probably get tired before the headset does.
Overall, cost-wise and compatibility-wise, this has got to be the single best option, whether it’s for everyday use, gaming or music. That’s why this headset is number 1 in our books as the best multi purpose gaming headset.
