2024 is closely approaching and what a year 2023 has been for new music! With the new year imminent, we thought we’d wrap up some highlights of the year and let you know who we think is gonna have a breakout year in 2024.
Best of 2023
2023 saw Dave & Central Cee release their collaborative single ‘Sprinter’ which quickly became a UK anthem of the summer. We also saw Miley Cyrus return into the pop stratosphere, successfully releasing one of 2023’s most infectious tracks ‘Flowers’ to the world. The single made Spotify history becoming the fastest song to reach 1 billion streams on the platform. While it’s been a huge year for some of the world’s biggest names in music, we’ve also seen a rise in new stars and independent music.
The likes of Kenya Grace became one of two British Female Artists (the other being Kate Bush) to reach No.1 spot in the Official Charts with a track performed, written and produced entirely solo. Her liquid Drum and Bass single, ‘Strangers’, began soaring on TikTok to then reach the masses and become an instant hit whilst simultaneously unveiling the rising pop star to the globe.
Each year, we turn to our staff here at Music Gateway to list the acts we think are going to make 2024 their breakout year. Before we get into it, let’s take a look at some of the other top picks from the rest of the music industry.
